(Olmstead) Holcomb. She was a lifelong resident of Decatur County and graduated from South Decatur High School in 1993. She was a member of the Westport Baptist Church. Melissa enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her parents, Boyd & Margaret Holcomb of Westport; her daughter, Cassandra (Zach) Thom of Jacksonville, Florida; her son, Kyle (Tracey) Moore of Westport; her brother, Christopher Holcomb of Westport; her half-sister, Leah (Aaron) Nugent of Westport; her grandchildren, Zoe, John, Hudson & Harlee and her nephews, Taylor Holcomb, Zach Holcomb, Cole Nugent & Corey Nugent all of Westport. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Rockcreek Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. She was born on May 10, 1930 in Huntsville, Tennessee the daughter of William & Maude Eva (Robbins) Walker. She moved to Indiana in 1937 and had been a Westport resident since 1948. She was a member of the North Vernon Order of Eastern Star #183. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, pets, quilting, sewing and cooking. Betty married Robert B. Smith on June 4, 1948 in Uniontown, Indiana. He preceded her in death on February 11, 2006. She is survived by her sons, Steven L. (Jane) Smith and Danny L. (Joni) Smith both of Greensburg and Randy R. (Sherry) Smith of Westport; 10 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her sisters, Amy Bishop, Mildred Troxel, Nadene Walker and Ermyl Pierson; her brothers, Horace, Murrel, Bob, Mike, Paul Eugene, and Orville Walker. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Ray Sweet, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Westport Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, March 15 from 4:00 p.m.to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Westport Volunteer Fire Department or the Humane Society through the funeral home.

Donna married George Cann on September 24, 1966 at the Westport Christian Church and he survives. Other survivors include her 2 daughters, Beth (Art) Pigmon and Jill (Gary) Guenthenspberger; 3 grandchildren, Michael Cann, Cassie Weaver-Hittel and Jim Pigmon; 2 great grandchildren, Oceano Cann and Leighla Cann. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Ann Wiley. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, June 28, 2024 at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. Pastor Mike Bartlett will be officiating with burial to follow at Westport Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. According to Donna's wishes she will cremated. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, December 23 from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.
