GATE Syllabus 2024: The syllabus for GATE 2024 is a very important part of the GATE exam preparation. Every year, the GATE syllabus is released for various papers, like CSE, ME, EE, ECE, CE, and DA through its official website: gate2024.iisc.ac.in. As of now, there are no changes introduced to the GATE Syllabus 2024 for CSE, Mechanical, EE, or ECE. The syllabus remains unchanged/stays the same as in previous years. There are two Sections in GATE Syllabus: General Aptitude core discipline. All GATE 2024 subjects include a common General Aptitude section. This section carries a weightage of 15% marks. The remaining 85% weightage is distributed amongst subjects and topics specific to the core discipline of the paper. The core discipline includes topics from Engineering Mathematics. Then comes the newly introduced paper on Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DA).

GATE Syllabus 2024 for Engineering Mathematics

The GATE Engineering Mathematics Syllabus has a good weightage in GATE Syllabus 2024. It tests candidates’ mathematics, which is related to engineering. Questions from mathematics have a weightage of 13% in GATE 2024 syllabus for all the papers with codes such as AE, AG, BM, BT, CE, CH, EC, ES, IN, ME CS, MN, EE, MT, NM, PE, PI, and TF. Although for the XE paper of Engineering Sciences, there are questions of mathematics that have a weightage of 15%. Plus, all the papers from all the codes have questions on Linear Algebra and Calculus. However, the GATE Syllabus 2024 for Engineering Mathematics comprises different topics for all the paper codes. GATE 2024 Exam Pattern

It is very important to understand the updated exam pattern along with GATE Syllabus 2024 before starting the preparation process for GATE 2024 exam. The GATE exam duration is 3 hours or 180 minutes and there are a total of 27 papers in the GATE exam. The exam tests candidates’’ knowledge and skills with a total of 65 questions. In it, 10 questions are from General Aptitude and 55 questions are from Engineering Maths and Core Subjects. The types of questions asked include MCQs, MSQs, and NATs. The total marks that the candidates can score in the GATE exam are 100. In addition, the number of sections in the exam can be two or three. It depends on the paper. The marking scheme includes 1-mark and 2-mark questions. The Negative marking applies only to MCQs, where ⅓ mark is deducted for wrong 1-mark answers, and ⅔ mark for wrong 2-mark answers. There is no negative marking for MSQs and NATs. Candidates should note that there are no new changes are expected in GATE 2024 Exam Pattern. What are the types for questions asked in GATE 2024?

GATE Question Paper 2024 has of three types of questions. These are- MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions), MSQs (Multiple Select Questions) and NATs (Numerical Answer Type).

Is there negative marking in GATE?

Yes, there is a negative marking in MCQs in GATE 2024. If candidates answer a multiple-choice question (MCQ) incorrectly, you will lose some marks. For each wrong 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 of a mark will be deducted. For each wrong 2-mark MCQ, 2/3 of a mark will be subtracted. But candidates will lose no marks if they’ll get multiple-select questions (MSQs) or numerical answer type (NAT) questions wrong.

Is there negative marking in GATE 2024 exam?
