Many have posted from the European Investment Fund (EIF)’s 30th birthday celebrations in Luxembourg this week. #30yearsbold I want to add a few personal impressions:First, that over the years, I have seen how we, the owners of the EIF: the European Investment Bank (EIB), the European Commission, and the >35 like-minded financial institutions (primarily Member States’ promotional banks), have grown into a group of friends, more like a family actually. Rather than rivalry, there is a strong will to collaborate to finance our amazing EU companies. We saw 40 such companies showcase their innovative solutions on Monday! Just one example: cylib, a young startup finding new ways to recycle batteries.Second, that we inspire each other. The "30 Years Bold" event had thoughtfully crafted sessions with brilliant speakers, on as different topics as regenerative farming and the new laser frontier in the battle to control fusion energy. I was personally touched by Dr Sara Mangsbo explaining her work on developing cancer vaccines, eg. for metastatic melanoma (a nasty illness I lost my mother to in 2011).Last, that the EIF is still young and only getting bolder!: https://30years.eif.org/Congratulations again to Marjut Falkstedt and the whole EIF staff. Happy 30th to the EUIPO - European Union Intellectual Property Office, our EU agency for intellectual property rights 🎂. I repost from Hugues Derème Benelux Office for Intellectual Property (BOIP) (merci Hugues!) as the Member States' IP offices are a crucial part of the EU's IP Network too!The European Commission has 2 seats in the Management Board and Budget Committee of the EUIPO. Last week, we met to vote for new top officials at the EUIPO, now the ball is in the court of the Council of the European Union! We also touched upon the EUIPO's draft Strategic Plan 2025-2030, and much more. Did you know that start-ups that apply for patents and TM early are more than 10x more likely to secure funding?
